B i o g r a p h y
Brendan Hemmerle is an accomplished and versatile musician with over 20 years of experience as a tenor soloist, harpist, flutist, and conductor. A Cincinnati native, Mr. Hemmerle started to sing and play the flute at his home church at a very early age, Brendan continues to perform in liturgical settings, as well as in concert, musical theater, and operatic roles.
As a tenor section leader and soloist, Mr. Hemmerle has performed with a multitude of choral ensembles including Chicago’s Schola Cantorum of St. Peter the Apostle, The Scholars of Cambrai, The Saint Louis Symphony Chorus, Saint Louis’ Union Avenue Opera Theatre, and the University Unitarian Church Loft Choir in Seattle. Brendan has also made music with the Seattle Jewish Chorale, performing works in Hebrew, Yiddish, and Ladino.
As an instrumentalist for both sacred and secular venues, Brendan has performed on a wide range of instruments, including the piano, organ, flute, several sizes of recorders, and the lever harp. While in Saint Louis, he was also a distinguished member of the ensemble Pluck, Blow, & Bow, performing harp, flute, and cello music.
Mr. Hemmerle has numerous years of experience performing and directing music in churches around the country. Most notably, he served as music director for St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in St. Louis, Missouri where he was influential in shaping uplifting liturgies with special attention to Christmas, Holy Week, and Easter services. While in St. Louis, he also conducted choir and orchestra for the Vivaldi Gloria In D Major and other works for the St. Elizabeth of Hungary church organization's 50th anniversary celebration. During his time in Seattle, Mr. Hemmerle served as music director at Mt. Baker Park Presbyterian Church where he programmed and directed two Christmas concerts for orchestra, choir, and soloists. And most recently, Mr. Hemmerle was the tenor soloist and section leader for the University Unitarian Church in Wedgewood.
When in Cincinnati, Mr. Hemmerle performs regularly with the Holy Cross-Immaculata Church in the historic Mt. Adam's neighborhood.
